Therapy
I use various therapeutic approaches from which I borrow different techniques depending on the needs of my clients.
I work in accordance with the French Code of Ethics and Conduct http://www.codededeontologiedespsychologues.fr/LE-CODE.html
When deciding on an appropriate counsellor, it is useful to understand the therapies used. Research shows that, although all therapies are useful, you may find one approach more appealing than another.
I work in a systemic as well as a humanistic way.
Systemic therapy seeks to address people as people in relationship, dealing with the interactions of groups (family, colleagues, social circle) and their interactional patterns and dynamics.
Humanistic therapy is based on the “here and now”. While noting how past events shaped your thinking and the way you behave, the “here-and-now” invites you to share your thoughts and feelings about what is currently happening in therapy. This is based on the idea that the client's interpersonal issues will emerge during the therapeutic relationship. Addressing the material that emerges in the room then becomes the focus. Therapy becomes less talking about issues and more working with them as they happen. This is why you will be asked to take an active part in the therapy. You will be able to discuss your problems in confidence and therapy will allow you to view them in a more pragmatic light.
Above all, I do my utmost to make you feel safe but also offer you lots of very practical advice to help you deal with your difficulties.
I can offer therapy in both English and French.
