Key Experience

Over 10 years experience of working with children, teenagers and adults across a range of settings including NHS, private sector and charities in England and in France.

I have worked with people of all age ranges who have mental health problems.

During 6 years, I worked  In England in a specialised centre for early intervention with children with communication disorders and autism spectrum disorders. The Puzzle Centre, within the SCERTS framework (Emily Rubin), aims to help families to understand and manage the very complex challenges that their children may face. I worked as a Specialist Clinical psychologist within the Puzzle Centre outreach service to engage and support young children with ASD or  communication disorders and their families and help them to face their complex needs in putting into place a behaviour management plan and strategies to improve the child's emotional regulation.

I have also worked privately both in England and in France, offering counselling and expertise, with children, teenagers and adults facing a variety of mental health and behavioural challenges including social anxiety, panic attack, OCD, depression, attachment disorders, ADHD or anger issues.

I have a wide range of experience in the field of chronic pain(back, fibromyalgia...) and chronic fatigue/ME (clinical work and research).

I am also a specialist in Bereavement and pre-bereavement for children, teenagers and adults.(NHS, Florence Nightingale Hospice, UK)

Therapy

I use various therapeutic approaches, including CBT and family therapy from which I borrow different techniques depending on the needs of my client.

I work in accordance with the French Code of Ethics and Conduct http://www.codededeontologiedespsychologues.fr/LE-CODE.html and the British Psychological Society's Code of Ethics and Conduct.

When deciding on an appropriate psychotherapist, it is useful to understand the therapies used. Research shows that although all therapies are useful you may find one approach more appealing than another and as well some approaches are better for certain areas of psychotherapy.

I work in a systemic way. Systemic therapy seeks to address people as people in relationship dealing with the interactions of groups (family, colleagues, social circle) and their interactional patterns and dynamics.

I also draw techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.

CBT is a talking therapy that looks to help you manage problems by enabling you to recognise and change the way you think and behave. CBT encourages you to notice how your thoughts and actions influence one another. The treatment will be based on the here and now while noting how past events shaped your thinking and the way you behave. Here-and-now is based on the idea that the client's interpersonal issues will eventually emerge in the therapeutic relationship. This is why you will be invited to share your thoughts and feelings about what is happening in therapy.

Addressing the material that emerges in the room becomes the focus. Therapy becomes less talking about issues and more working with them as they happen. This is why you will be asked to take an active part in the therapy. You will be able to discuss your problems in confidence and therapy will allow you to view them in a more pragmatic light.

The therapy (often weekly sessions) tends to last between 6 weeks and 12 months, depending on the nature of the issues.

I draw as well, when needed, from other theoretical frameworks and from the latest research. This allows me to tailor my approach to a client's individual needs.

Above all, I do my utmost to make you feel safe but also offer you lots of very practical advice to help you deal with your difficulties.

Clients from overseas

I can offer therapy in both English and French. I also have a proficient knowledge of Italian.
